Our Classes

Classes are based on traditional hatha yoga. There are no props used such as belts, blocks etc., apart from a yoga mat. Physical postures (asanas) are held for a period of time, and there is no jumping involved. 

General Level Class

This class is 1.5 hours long and is aimed at beginners students. However, all levels of experience and ability are welcome to attend. Students are encouraged to practise only within their own limit. When the student is ready, postures can be practised at increasing intensity. The teacher will always provide variations so that all students with differing levels of experience and physical condition can gain the benefits of yoga without going too far so as to cause any pain or injury.

Each session starts with 12-15 minutes of deep relaxation. This is followed by 8-10 minutes of breathing practice (pranayama). Breathing practices strengthen the lungs and diaphragm through control of inhalation, retention and exhalation. The quality of the breath improves, and energy in the body increases.

After our breathing practice we perform the asanas. With regular practice of asanas, the student will develop strength, suppleness, balance and great vitality. Internal organs are rejuvenated and the body's natural immune system becomes stronger. Most importantly, practice of asanas calm the nerves and quieten the mind.  At the end of the session, one feels relaxed, light and happy. 

Over 50s/Easy Yoga

This class is not only suitable for more mature students but also anybody who wishes to practise at an easier level than the General level. The class goes for 1 hour and 10 minutes and has a similar structure to the General class; starting with relaxation then breathing, followed by physical postures and finally sitting with a quiet mind. We practise easier variations of postures and students have the option to use a chair for extra support and for sitting on as an alternative to kneeling or sitting on the floor which some find difficult.

Intermediate Level

This class is suitable for students who have practised in the General level for many weeks and wish to practise more advanced postures and pranayama. Students must be experienced not only in asana practice but also in pranayama. Any students wishing to attend the Intermediate class must first talk to the teacher to determine whether they are ready.

Class fees

$ 150 for 10-session pass.
$17 per casual visit.
